Jas Johl currently serves as Gender Equity Advisor to Mayor Michael Tubbs, of Stockton, California. A microcosm of the country, Stockton faces challenges that reflect the overall state of gender equity across the nation. Reproductive Health, Domestic Violence, and Child Care are the top policy areas for the 2019/2020 year.
Previously, Jas served as the Global Impact Officer of the Salesforce Women’s Network + Principal Business Architect at the technology company Salesforce. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the American think tank The Roosevelt Institute. She has been featured on NPR, contributed reporting to Newsweek, and speaks regularly at universities, conferences, and organizations such as VoteRunLead that support efforts to create a more equitable society.
Jas studied Comparative Social Policy at Oxford University and Rhetoric at The University of California, Berkeley, and volunteers at organizations that support survivors of domestic abuse and that promote a new generation of leaders from low-income backgrounds. An avid writer, she has been published in Oxford's Failed Novelists Society Anthology, and through a project that was a Kickstarter "Pick of the Week."
